Abstract
The purpose of this study is; to reveal of the 656. Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling spectator social-demographic features and reason of participation as a consequence, specify the audience target mass. Knowing some of the characteristics of the spectators participating in the historic Kirkpinar wrestling will contribute to the shaping of the services to be performed in the coming periods. Survey questions were determined by the researcher and interviews were conducted among the audience. The obtained data were entered into the SPSS program. In the statistical analyzes, the frequency of the percentages were evaluated by cross-tabulation and chi-square tests and the level of significance was determined as p <0.05. In the results of study; 98% of the audiences were male, 82% were 35 years old and over and 79% of them were in the secondary education level. Oil wrestling spectators have stated that the reason of they involved; 62% of attendees were interesting wrestling sports, 16% were traditional and historical, and 14% were Sarayici atmosphere. As a result; 62% of the spectators stated that they came to Kirkpinar because of the interesting about the sport of oil wrestling. This suggests that some of the masses are willing to watch wrestling. The average age of the spectators is higher when you look at other sports branches. Particularly the highest attendance rate among the spectators comes from the retired spectators. It is appreciated that the very inactive retired audience group is at the highest level according to Turkish standards, but it is necessary for young audiences group to be encouraged for our future.
