Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze “the return to bosom of the nation” discourse voiced by the opposition parties in Turkish politics in certain circumstances, which seems to be a project that had never been realized. It is a political strategy envisaged for overcoming a political crises through mass resignation of the opposition party’s repre-sentatives from the parliament. Within this framework, the subject was classified according to political periods and each specific case was analyzed and compared with the other cases. Aiming to take the legal political activity out of the parliament and to mobilize people around the opposition, this political strategy intends to make radical changes in the func-tioning of the political system. From this perspective this work is set out to contribute to the literature through determining under which political conditions this strategy voiced by the opposition appears and whether it is a realizable and successful political maneuver or not.
