Abstract

Migration, which is defined as the action of moving from one region or country to another, causes many effects on labor markets, while also bringing along problems for migrating individuals. The economic and social changes brought about by globalization since the 1980s have contributed positively to the participation of women in labor markets. In recent years, a tendency towards feminization can be observed with the increase in migration movements due to economic, social, and political reasons. Today, women constitute approximately half of all immigrants. The aim of this study is to reveal how Turkish-origin immigrant women who have migrated to France interpret their working lives, the main problems they face in integrating into the labor market, and how they are affected by these processes. A literature review was conducted, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight immigrant women. The results of the study showed that the education levels and language proficiency of Turkish immigrant women are effective in finding skilled jobs in labor markets. At the same time, it was found that patriarchal domination and discrimination affect the integration of women into the workforce.
