ABSTRACT

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that manifests itself with two main characteristics: deficits in social interaction and communication and limited/repetitive behaviors. This reality definitely indicates the importance and the necessity of defining the reasons for ASD, stating the possible prevention ways, and training parents and children with ASD, which is more important than the formers. Early and intensive behavioral treatment is the most effective intervention in teaching children with ASD. The only way of providing quality early intervention includes cooperation with parents of children with ASD. Parent-implemented early special education programs may enrich the content and promote the generalization of acquired skills acquired across novel situations. One way of adult training to ensure parent participation in early special education programs is coaching. Coaching is defined as family coaching when the program is carried out with families. Family coaching enables the family and the coach to share not only information about the program but also experiences about the implementation. The aim of this study is to introduce the term Parent Coaching to the national literature and to reveal the necessity and benefits of its use in children with ASD.
