ABSTRACT
It is supposed to primarily determine the needs in order to achieve a convention based on the rights of the child in schools, and thus it is required to develop valid and reliable scales. This study has been aimed to develop the Children’s Rights Based School Scale (CRBSS). The experimental group of this study was composed of 700 teachers employed in 18 primary schools in Gaziantep who were selected by cluster sampling method. The proofs related with the validity of the structure of the scale have been gathered by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). As a result of the Exploratory Factor Analysis, a scale structure consisting of 26 items and five factors has been reached. It has also been found that %76.823 of the total variants have been explained by the aforementioned five factors. CFAhas been applied in order to check the validity of the structure reached after EFA. It has been seen that among the CFA indexes, GFI (.90), AGFI (.88) and NFI (.91) are acceptable and that X2/sd(CMIN/DF) (1.722), CFI (.96), IFI (.96), RMSEA (.045), SRMR (.030) are at a perfect harmony level . At the scope of studies related with reliability, Cronbach Alpha (internal consistency) reliability coefficients, the reliability of halving the test , the total item correlations and the values of item distinguishing have been examined. The Cronbach Alpha value for the whole of the scale has been calculated as .924. With regard to the subfactors of the scale, the Cronbach Alpha values have been calculated as Protection- support .960, teaching-learning process .940, relationships-communication .864, environmental arrangements .945 and rules- cooperation .841 respectively. Consequently, it could be concluded that a valid and reliable scale was developed in order to analyze environmental, administrative and social structures at schools in terms of children’s rights..
