Abstract
Students with specific learning disability (SLD) constitute a great majority of students needing special education. It is known that these students who are not different from their peers mentally and physically lag behind their peers in reading, reading comprehension, writing skills, mathematics and language development. This study aims to develop a five-point likert type scale to determine Specific Learning Disability (SLD) competencies of teachers working with the students having SLD. 305 teachers from primary and secondary school in Ankara, İstanbul, Konya, Aksaray, Mersin, Afyon and İzmir participated in the study. The participants are chosen from the classroom teachers, special education teachers and teachers working in the rehabilitation cente2rs who are working with the students with SLD. After the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, a three-factor structure has been found. It is found that these three factors explain 78.113 % of the total variance. Cronbach Alpha coefficient, split halves reliability, test-retest reliability coefficient and RMSEA value are found respectively as 0.98, 0.94, 0.86, and 0,070.
