Abstract
The artworks that the research is interested in are included in the meaning of the terms “wall paintings” or “mural paintings” in art history studies. The paintings; we investigate, belong to the last quarter of the 19th century, which is at the end of the historical slice of “the transition period” of Turkish Art History; at the time, the practice found a contribution from the technology of photography. In this research, we study a totally of 4 wall paintings (some of which are ruined, the rests are about to be ruined) in terms of the aesthetic values, relations with the architectural space, and art historical features; on the historic mansion, named Dumlu Mansion because of the name of former owner Şücaattin Dumlu, which is currently in a deserted state. In addition, we delve into the history of the mansion, which is recently developed -a controversial topic-, by using historical and art historical research.
