ABSTRACT

Antonio Gramsci, an Italian thinker, philosopher and politician has become a very important figure in theorethical discussions from 1980’s uptil now. We here Gramsci’s name especially in debates on discussions about “Euro-left” or “New Left” policies. Today, mainly theoreticians of “New-Left” wing, legitimate their critics on Ortodox Marxism by taking Gramsci as their referance points. There are many different explanations on Gramsci’s works but the terms “hegemony” and “historical block” seem to be the best way of undertanding the thinker. Gramsci who has begun to be taken as a basic referance on discussions about “civil society” in Turkey as well after 1985, stil expalins many of the conflicts collapsing our modern social politics’ terminology..
