Abstract
To examine a masterpiece such as “Husn u Ashq” of Seyh Gâlib, who was the last great master of our classical poetry, from the point of literary description and to analyze a topic on which a great deal studies have been made, is challenging but at the same time a difficult task. As the meaning and interpretation of our Diwan Poetry is still accessible, Husn u Ashq remains also untouched and thus needs to be unveiled. It is a fact that all works of art and particularly the literary ones become enriched by new meanings in each time one reads them. It is quite natural that Husn Ashq would gain new meanings throughout an analysis as such. Even though the gap between the artist and his readers or interpreters becomes narrow, it would continue to exist as the following saying implies: “the meaning of a poem resides inside the poet” (Mana al-sh’ir fî batn al-shaîr). As a matter of fact, many pieces of art have been re-assessed and new findings have been acquired.
