ABSTRACT

It is known that toxic leadership, which is among the destructive types of leadership, has negative effects on organizational psychology. It is thought that toxic leadership has negative effects on variables that affect organizational behavior such as quality of work life and professional burnout. In this context, it was aimed to test the theoretical model that explains the linear structural relationships between teachers' perceptions of school principals' toxic leadership behaviors, quality of work life and professional burnout. For this purpose, the direct and indirect effects of toxic leadership on occupational burnout through quality of work life were examined. The research sample consisted of 201 teachers working in Uzunköprü district of Edirne province in the 2022- 2023 academic year. The least squares (PLS) method of the Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to determine the direct and indirect effects of toxic leadership and work life quality on occupational burnout. As a result of the research, it was seen that toxic leadership has direct and indirect effects on professional burnout.
