This article aims at disclosing the menzil staff ( menzilci ) working in the menzil organisation in Göynük according to the temettuat registers and the şeriye siciller ( registers kept by qadis ). The temettüat registers and the şeriye siciller contain very rich data regarding almost all of the characteristics of socio-economic life such as demography and agricultural economy. It is possible to get information on taxpayers’ names, nick-names and occupations. Thus, it became easy to trace recent family and occupational histories at least 150 years back. Göynük menzil organisation was managed by three families during the years between 1160 and 1182. People of Göynük did not only contributed to Göynük Menzil, but they also gave finansial support to the other menzils in Nallıhan, Mudurnu, Gölpazarı and Taraklı by paying Menzil fees to them.
