ABSTRACT
The basic function of language is to provide communication between people. Achieving language expression competence is possible with the use of formulaic expressions. These expressions are words freely chosen by the speakers. These formulaic expressions (proverbs, idioms, etc.), always used in a certain way, deepen the power of the expression. Saying formulaic expressions in certain situations has become a tradition, especially in. Turkish culture different definitions can be made for each proverb and idiom, and these definitions can be improved day by day. At this stage, language and culture are important resources in ensuring their transmission according to the period and community in which they are used. In this context, this transfer has a very important place in the fields of history, literature and architecture. At this point, proverbs, idioms and terms are effective tools to make the expression effective and to express what is said clearly, easily and understandably. Words that emerge as a result of certain experiences and experiences in societies are also meaningful pieces in terms of being didactic. These expressions, which are the product of traditional oral culture, are valuable in terms of making the expression of oral and written expression effective. Within the scope of the study, formulaic expressions in the Turkish language were examined in terms of the field of architecture. The words, idioms, terms and analogies included are supported with examples, and it is explained how these expressions can be used in the field of architecture. In addition, it was expressed how Turkish culture is reflected in the discipline of architecture and what value it adds to the discipline of architecture. In this context, it is emphasized that Turkish cultural expressions add depth to the discipline of architecture and that cultural connections are important to create meaning and identity in architectural projects.
