ABSTRACT
The traditional statistics method is frequently used in classification problems. However data mining techniques draw more attention day by day because they do not have any assumption and their classification performance is determined to be stronger via many researches. In this study the Decision Trees and Artificial Neural Networks data mining techniques will be introduced and the classification performances of these methods will be compared with application sample.
In the application 9 macroeconomic variable data of member and candidate states of the European Union (EU) have been used. The aim of the application is to determine whether the factor of ‘increasing the economical development level’ is effective or not and if it is which variables are more important. The data have been analyzed via machine training package program of WEKA. C4.5 algorithm has been used for KA analysis whereas Multilayer Perceptrons have been used for YSA analysis.
