Turkish nation, creating rich folk literature, has thousands of provebs on various subject and theme conveyed up to modern time with changings in the course of time.

Sayings with philosophical meaning, brought up to teach neḫt generations, stating and stressing behaviours of virtue and valued norms shaping the character of Turkish people, have an important place among these proverbs.
